TWG 2025 Chengdu Torch ‘Zhumeng’
The “Zhumeng” torch for The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu, homophonically echoes the Chinese phrase for chasing dreams, aligning with the slogan of the torch relay—”Lighting Dreams with The World Games.” Its design brilliantly blends artistic forms, symbolic colors and cultural motifs to create a unified style that captures the TWG spirit and shares China’s heritage through skilled craftsmanship.
Shape
Inspired by the Grand Bronze Standing Figure excavated from the Sanxingdui site, the torch resembles a standing bamboo with strong and unyielding vitality. The plant, revered in Chinese culture for its humility and strength, embodies the unity and perseverance of sportsmanship, symbolising the athletes’ indomitable spirit. The top of the torch takes on the shape of a tender bamboo shoot with two bamboo buds stretching out, reflecting the host city’s openness and inclusiveness as it embraces the world.
Colours
The colours adorning “Zhumeng,” green and silver form a pleasing contrast. Green echoes China’s commitment to harmonious coexistence with nature, Chengdu’s vision of a park city and the low-carbon concept practiced by TWG 2025 Chengdu. Silver represents science and technology, innovation, efficiency and impetus. The combination of these two colours indicates that China will create a better future together with the world as it constantly pursues green and innovation in every aspect and way.
Patterns
Centrally placed is the logo of TWG 2025. On the back of the torch, the mascots Shubao and Jinzai lean out and show their lively postures, announcing to the world that the first TWG torch originates from Chengdu. Tracing back over three millennia, exquisite and enigmatic patterns from the Sanxingdui and Jinsha sites grace the torch, bearing witness to the enduring legacy of Chinese civilisation. The flame outlet, modelled after the sun-shaped crown of the Bronze Standing Figure from the Jinsha site, symbolises athletes striving for victory, while at the base is a phoenix-shaped holy bird holding up the torch, which embodies the noble aspiration for world peace. Like the dawn inspiring every soul, TWG 2025 Chengdu aims to bridge divides through sport and foster heartfelt connections, reflecting the Chinese aspiration to join hands with the world in building a community with a shared future for mankind.
