Road to Chengdu 2025: Unveiling Archery Qualification Journey

 

Qualification for The World Games 2025 Chengdu will begin in early 2024, according to the qualification procedure published by World Archery.

 

The multisport event, which features both target (compound) and field archery (recurve and barebow) competitions, will see 100 archers compete for seven gold medals. A mixed team title is awarded in the target event as well as the individual trophies.

 

More than half of the target archery (compound) quota places will be available through continental championships held in 2024 or 2025, with the first being the European Archery Championships in May this year in Essen, Germany.

 

Two places per gender are reserved for China, one able-bodied and one para, while a further one is given to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Champion. The remainder will be awarded on the world ranking list. The primary qualifier for field archery events (recurve and barebow) is the 2024 World Archery Field Championships on 16-22 September in Lac La Biche, Canada.

 

Archery was introduced to the World Games in 1985. The programme consisted of field archery competitions for recurve and barebow archers until 1989. In 1993, compound was introduced. The compound event was changed into a target archery competition for the 2013 edition in Cali.
