Hong Kong Hosts One-Year Countdown Celebrations for TWG 2025 and Launches Inaugural Edition of TWG Series

On Wednesday 7 August, a key milestone in the lead-up to The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu was celebrated at the iconic Sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck, where the Executive Committee of TWG 2025 Chengdu announced that Hong Kong will host the inaugural leg of TWG Series from 11 to 13 October 2024.

 

 

The inaugural edition of TWG Series 2024 Hong Kong, scheduled for 11-13 October 2024 at GO PARK Sai Sha in Hong Kong, will feature 88 athletes competing in qualifying events in Cheerleading (ICU) with Pom, Wushu (IWUF) with Taolu, and Roller Sports (World Skate) with Freestyle Inline. A total of 11 qualifying places will be allocated for TWG 2025 in Chengdu, which is set to take place from 7-17 August next year. Eric Fok, advisor to the Preparatory Committee, expressed his excitement, stating that the recent success of Chinese athletes at the Paris Olympics, coupled with the upcoming TWG Series in Hong Kong and TWG in Chengdu next year, will further ignite enthusiasm for sports.

 

 

Sports event organisers from both Chengdu and Hong Kong, along with representatives from various companies, attended the ceremony. The Executive Committee of TWG 2025 Chengdu and the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong signed a strategic cooperation agreement, setting the stage for deeper collaboration in the lead-up to TWG 2025. In addition, the Chengdu committee unveiled the overall market development plan, introducing five tiers of partnerships, such as Global Partners, Official Partners and Official Sponsors, to over 50 enterprises present at the event.

 

As part of the one-year celebrations for TWG 2025, a high-speed train themed TWG departed from Chengdu to Hong Kong on 6 August.
