Chengdu Promotes TWG Events at City-Level Games

To familiarize the public with the sports of The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu, the city has launched a series of promotional competitions as part of the 15th Sports Games of Chengdu, which began in July and will continue through October.

 

Nine TWG sports will be featured at the city-level games, namely Billiards Sports, Squash, Lacrosse, Powerlifting, Ju-jitsu, Tug of War, American Football, Triathlon and Handball.

 

 

The first event under this initiative was the Billiards Sports competition, held from 7 to 8 September. It featured three disciplines — Carom, Pool and Snooker — with a strong turnout of youth participants.

 

“We hope these competitions will enhance training opportunities and encourage more Chengdu residents, especially young people, to learn about and engage with the sport,” said Zhang Tao, an international Billiards Sports referee. “Our long-term goal is to develop more specialized Billiards Sports institutions in Chengdu, organize more tournaments, and cultivate talent for higher-level competitions.”

 

 

In the coming weeks, Flag Football (American Football), Beach (Handball) and Squash competitions will follow, scheduled for 21 September, 22 September, and 19-20 October, respectively.
