
12th World DanceSport Festival Concludes in Chengdu
The 12th World DanceSport Festival closed at Chengbei Gymnasium in Chengdu on Sunday. The two-day DanceSport gala gathered over 1,200 world top dancers from more than 30 countries and regions including China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
The Chinese duo Qiu Yuming and Hu Jingyi claimed victory in the 2024 WDSF World Open Standard, while the Chinese pair Yan Bangbang and Du Yujun won the 2024 DSA Asian DanceSport Championships Latin.
The festival featured various competitions, including the 2024 WDSF World Cup Latin, the 2024 WDSF World Open Standard, and the 2024 DSA Asian DanceSport Championships (Latin/Standard).
The event was jointly organised by the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF), the Dance Sport Asia (DSA) and the Chinese DanceSport Federation (CDSF), as well as the Chengdu Municipal People’s Government. During the event, Chengdu was awarded the title of “City of Excellence in DanceSport” by the DSA.
“The event is well organised; the 12th World DanceSport Festival is on the highest level concerning the organisation,” said Nenad Jeftic, WDSF Vice President. “Also the level of the couples is very high.”
DanceSport is one of the 35 sports of The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu, featuring disciplines like Latin, Standard and Breaking. Jeftic indicated that the WDSF would begin the selection process for TWG 2025 Chengdu in December.
