TWGS 2024 Debuts in Hong Kong
The World Games Series (TWGS) 2024 was held from 11-13 October, at the GO PARK Sai Sha in Hong Kong, China, which marked the first time that TWGS took place in the city.
Athletes from over 30 countries and regions competed in three sports: Cheerleading (Pom), Roller Sports (Freestyle - Inline), and Wushu (Taolu). The event served as a crucial milestone on the road to The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu, offering qualification spots for 11 athletes.
The opening ceremony took place on the afternoon of 11 October. In his speech, Michael Wong, Deputy Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government emphasized that GO PARK Sai Sha, which integrates retail, entertainment, and dining facilities with sports amenities, was the ideal location for the event, and he hoped athletes and audience alike would have an unforgettable experience there.
Joachim Gossow, CEO of the International World Games Association, expressed his excitement and wished the athletes success, encouraging them to showcase their skills and earn their spots in the upcoming TWG 2025.
During the event, GO PARK Sai Sha hosted a variety of activities, including creative games, fencing and rock climbing trials, live music performances, and local Hong Kong food stalls, drawing large crowds of citizens and tourists to the lively venue.
