Chengdu’s Longquanyi District Gears up for TWG 2025
As the countdown to The World Games (TWG) 2025 continues, Chengdu is preparing for an exciting August. Longquanyi, a district with a rich sports legacy that hosted the opening ceremony and some events of the FISU World University Games in 2023, is making significant strides in its preparation for TWG 2025.
Longquanyi District will be home to four major competition venues for TWG 2025, hosting six sports in total. Dong’an Lake Sports Park will host both indoor events including Cheerleading and Gymnastics, and outdoor competitions such as Air Sports and Tug of War. Qinglong Lake Wetland Park will serve as the venue for Archery, while Longquan High School will accommodate Korfball (Indoor).
In preparation for TWG 2025, Longquanyi has adopted a comprehensive approach, focusing on infrastructure upgrades, staffing, and event management. The district has released a detailed work plan for event organization, clearly outlining responsibilities for each phase of preparation. To date, more than 10 venue inspections have been successfully completed.
A major focus has been on enhancing venue infrastructure. Key venues, such as Dong’an Lake Sports Park, are undergoing significant upgrades to meet international standards. Additionally, a comprehensive guideline for infrastructure improvements at competition venues has been drafted, providing clear and scientific guidance for these upgrades.
The district has also finalized its organizational structure for competition venues and staffing allocations, rolling out the second version of the human resources plan for venue operation centres. Work is already underway on various fronts, including staff training, the compiling of venue operation plans, preparations for test events, sports equipment arrangements, and team configurations, ensuring the Games will run smoothly.
