The world’s leading training institution for Billiards Sports, the CBSA World Snooker Academy has officially signed an agreement to establish a branch in Banzhuyuan Subdistrict, Xindu District, Chengdu, southwest China. It is scheduled to welcome students by late April this year.

“Xindu was chosen as the new branch location due to its robust Snooker ecosystem and a championship legacy embedded in local culture,” remarked Zhang Tao, representative of the branch.

Banzhuyuan set up a Snooker champion studio in 2020, he added. It has since served as a professional training ground for elite players like Zhou Yuelong and Xiao Guodong, while also nurturing local talent. Additionally, it has hosted back-to-back editions of local tournaments to elevate the sport’s regional profile and establish a robust framework for its enduring growth there.

Spanning 1,300 square metres to world-class specifications, the new branch will house 22 tournament-certified tables, including two competition zones with dedicated spectator galleries. Beyond serving elite athletes, the complex will function as a multidimensional hub offering referee certification programmes, coach development workshops, and premium event hosting services for both professional tournaments and community-level matches.

According to Zhang, strategic partnerships will soon launch Snooker events. The academy further plans grassroots engagement programmes targeting Xindu’s youth and amateur communities, designed to identify and cultivate homegrown professionals.
