Drone Racing Takes Flight in Chengdu

On Saturday 1 March, a Drone Racing event held at Dong’an Lake Sports Park in Longquanyi District ignited enthusiasm for The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu.

 

 

As a provincial selection competition for aviation model events of the 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China, this tournament attracted 347 competitors, featuring Drone Racing and Drone Soccer matches. The participants manoeuvred their drones through obstacles at high speeds, with the remarkable performance of 12-year-old contestant Tang Yaxing drawing rounds of applause.

 

 

Drone Racing is an emerging tech-driven sport featured at TWG 2025. The tournament aimed to build excitement for the upcoming international event while stress-testing operational frameworks for Drone Racing events and developing local technical support networks. The park has identified potential pilots for the National Games and simultaneously advanced public engagement with Air Sports as the designated training facility for TWG 2025.
