Design Revealed for Xinglong Lake Beach Arena

This August, the Beach Korfball competition of The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu will be staged at the Xinglong Lake Beach Arena, the design of which has recently been unveiled. It will mark the first time that Beach Korfball is included in TWG programme. The venue will also host the Beach Handball events.

 

 

From the very beginning of the project, the design team worked closely with relevant partners to conduct thorough assessments and repeated evaluations of the site. Special attention was paid to factors such as fluctuating water levels to ensure seamless integration of the venue with other water sports facilities around Xinglong Lake.

 

To meet competition standards while preserving the area’s natural landscape, the team scientifically reshaped the venue’s layout and elevation, while also taking full account of safety and environmental protection. Notably, the venue features innovative adjustable platform foundations, avoiding traditional concrete or brick bases.

 

 

“As we moved from setting standards to design and construction, we continuously evaluated and confirmed every detail,” said Fan Zhen, a project leader at Chengdu Design Consulting Group. “Beyond meeting technical requirements, we aimed to create a vibrant fusion of sport and the beauty of Chengdu’s park city setting at the stunning Xinglong Lake Beach.”
