Chengdu's Dragon Boat Festival Celebration Ignites Spirit of TWG 2025
On 31 May, the Tianfu Park City Dragon Boat Championship Final made waves at Xinglong Lake as part of The World Games (TWG) 2025 Twelve Monthly Fairs. The event served as a lively warm-up for TWG 2025, using Dragon Boat racing to bring the Games spirit to life.
Held on the Dragon Boat Festival, the lakeside was buzzing with spectators. Sixteen teams — including international participants — raced across the water to the beat of powerful drums, creating a thrilling spectacle. Sunlight caught the spray of oars, and the boats cut through the lake like dragons chasing the finish line.
Interactive zones along the shore offered canoeing experience, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere.
"I've lived in Chengdu for 12 years — this is my first Dragon Boat race, and it's been amazing!" said Abu from the Middle East.
"Cheering crowds and beautiful views pushed me to give my all," added Callum from the UK. "My arms are sore, but I'll never forget it."
Dragon Boat racing, a cherished part of Chinese tradition, brought people together in celebration and gave a glimpse of the excitement to come at TWG 2025.
