On 8 June, a youth Parkour competition, hosted by the Chengdu Youth Sports Association, kicked off at the SM Plaza in Chengdu's Chenghua District. Nearly 20 primary schools and kindergartens from across the city formed teams to take part, with over 200 young Parkour athletes tackling the TWG-themed course set up in the city square.

Parkour originated in Paris during the 1990s and was introduced to China in 2006. It has been developing steadily in Chengdu for over a decade and is now highly popular among young people. As an official discipline of Gymnastics at The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu, Parkour will feature two events: Speed and Freestyle.

In March 2025, Chengdu launched a campaign to promote TWG sports in 120 schools across the city, including Gymnastics (Parkour). Within just three months, more than 20 TWG-related competitions and activities have been held among over 40,000 young participants.

Liu Lin, the chief referee of this competition and also a professional Parkour athlete, expressed that Parkour's inclusion in TWG 2025 offers the sport an incredible platform for exposure and recognition. In reality, Parkour isn't just for extreme athletes—it's a bridge between human movement and the environment. For children, it brings comprehensive physical and mental development, improving running and jumping ability, coordination, agility, and strength.
