Unveiling TWG 2025 Chengdu Opening Ceremony

With less than a month to go before The World Games 2025 Chengdu Opening Ceremony, the director team has revealed highlights of their innovative approach.

 

 

The Opening Ceremony will take place in the open area in front of the Tianfu International Convention Centre, Sichuan Tianfu New Area.

 

Qiao Wei, chief scriptwriter for both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, explained that the Opening Ceremony will accommodate 8,000 temporary seats while also offering lakeside viewing for over 1,000 spectators in such an open space.

On 7 August at the Tianfu International Convention Centre, hip-hop dance will serve as the opening act, delivering not only a visual spectacle but also a cultural celebration of sports, youthfulness and confidence. The performance, according to the director team, will highlight the artistic energy and vibrant cultural identity of both The World Games and the host country.

 

 

The segment is choreographed with multiple sport elements popular among younger generations.

 

The large cast, expansive performance plaza, and diverse range of sports involved have significantly increased the choreographic complexity. "Our director team is considering applying for a Guinness World Record. This would be the world's largest hip-hop opening performance," said deputy director Zhang Qing.
