TWG Course for Tug of War Makes Debut in Chengdu

On Saturday 12 July, The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu held its 10th session of the TWG Course initiative—this time for Tug of War—with over 200 enthusiastic participants from the local community.

Professional Tug of War coaches briefed participants on the sport’s history, rules, and safety precautions. They then demonstrated techniques including the standard rope grip, power-generating posture, and coordinated footwork.

Following warm-up exercises, participants practised the techniques in groups, learning through practical application. “I used to think Tug of War was about pulling as hard as you can, but now I know that pulling together in rhythm takes you much further with half the effort,” said Mr Zhang from Chengdu.

Since its launch, the TWG Course initiative has introduced local residents to over 10 sports on the TWG 2025 programme, including Flying Disc, Archery, Billiards Sports, and DanceSport.
