The torch relay for The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu is set to take place on Saturday 26 July, marking the first-ever torch relay event in the history of TWG.

Torch "Zhumeng"

The torch relay will traverse Chengdu and two of its neighbouring cities, Deyang and Meishan, covering a total distance of 11 kilometres. Following the flame lighting ceremony at the Sanxingdui Museum in Deyang on 26 July, which inaugurates the relay, the flame will travel across five legs: Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Chengdu Wuhou Shrine Museum, Meishan San Su Shrine Museum, and Xinglong Lake Wetland Park in Chengdu. A total of 120 torchbearers will participate in this historic event.

Tang Miao, Academic Director and Associate Research Curator of the Baodun Site Museum noted that numerous historical and archaeological elements from Chengdu have been incorporated into the TWG 2025 torch "Zhumeng" and its supporting objects, reflecting the city's cultural heritage. He explained that bamboo, a crucial design element in the whole set, symbolises Chengdu's architectural and daily life traditions dating back 4,500 years, as it was first cultivated on the Chengdu Plain. The ignition rod features a 4,500-year-old fingerprint from a pottery sherd unearthed at the Baodun Site, creating a unique connection between ancient inhabitants and modern participants. The flame cauldron bears three time markers representing distinct cultural characteristics from the ancient Shu Kingdom period on the Chengdu Plain.
